Easy Mango Sangria Recipe Low Sugar – My Friday Night Favorite!

I have to be honest, I am not a cook nor do I enjoy cooking, but I do love to make things at home or find a healthy and even faster way of making a dish or drinks at home that will save money and calories.

And, this is one of my favorite things to drink throughout the year. I have to be honest that the best Sangria that I drank were in Espana (Spain). And since then, I have been a fan of the drink. And what is there not to like about the drink. Being a fruit lover, I enjoy the fruity flavor that wine brings and sangria is a perfect way of getting that flavor. Its refreshing without the soda.

Hi There!

I am a Techie turned Fashion Blogger with a 13 year old and a complicated history of trying to find my style and confidence back after having my daughter at an early age.

I have finally found a happy medium where I don’t worry about my body instead enjoy my style my way and I want to help you with exactly that.

Unfortunately, I don’t enjoy sodas at all in any form of drink. I can manage the fizz of the beer after years of practice. But even that sometimes feels too much. Sangria on the other hand has a slight bubbly feeling without the bubbling and honestly I am so glad. But because of the hint of fizz, it feel really refreshing. But, in this recipe I am changing the traditional sangria flavor to one of my favorite flavors of summer, Mango Sangria.

If you don’t love Mangoes, we can’t be friends (Just kidding). I grew up in a small tow surrounded by mango trees. I would bike to pick up fresh ripe mangoes from the tree. We had a forest of Mango trees, so you can easily imagine my love for the fruit. The fruit is so naturally sweet that, you really don’t need anymore sugar at all. It makes for my favorite dessert in summer.

So, its really natural to blend both of my favorite flavors and make for an awesome drink. Sangria is not a cocktail since its actually a blend of only wine, but as with any evolution, it has evolved into a cocktail version where you can also add other alcohol to the mix.

But, I am old school and I really enjoy Sangria with its wines only. But in this recipe, I am trying to reduce the amount of sugar that the drink usually has and supplement it with the flavor of mango as a natural sweetener. I also have a little bit of sugar added in a former of concentrate but its for the lemon flavor and does not add that much sugar to the drink.

I used a whole ripe mango and blended it finely to have in a smoothie like format. This helps the mango to get blended in the sangria and also adds color to the drink. And ofcourse, the mango flavor. But I didnt restrict to only mangoes. Sangria is also a citrus drink and thats what makes it refreshing. So, I am adding lemon juice as well as a lemon concentrate made for cocktails. In terms of other fruits, I just use what I have in hand at the time, so you can really try different fruits. But, berries would taste the best, so I added raspberries and blueberries which have more of natural sweetness to add to the drink.

In terms of wine, I went with whites as the color of the mangoes need to show in the drink and if you add red wine, then it might just look orange. Two of my top choice of white wine for this Sangria are Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. They are really light on sweetness and add a fruity flavor to any drink. But if you want more sweetness, you can go for part Moscato or Light Rosé as well. But, my attempt on this drink is to keep it light on sugar.

And these vintage wine glasses that I bought from a vintage shop years ago are just perfect companion for this drink. I really could not get rid of them even though my home decor style has completely changed over the years.

There is always a certain charm of a perfect drink with the perfect glass dont you think.
