A fitted striped full sleeve top is one of my favorite and really versatile clothing item for fall and winter. In this outfit formula, I will share one of the easiest formulas you can use to style your favorite striped top, a chance to upgrade you existing one if it has seen better days. Or if you are new to striped top, this would be a great way to see why you should at least own one.
In this outfit formula I am using the Ralph Lauren striped shoulder button top that is fitted so its really easy to layer on and look put together in.
But if you are looking for a relaxed fit one, & other stories has a bit of boxier fit that will feel much more relaxed.
Key Style Piece: Striped Full Sleeve Top
Cold weather outfits are usually solid and darker in color for most of us. Even if you want to wear colors, you always end up wearing solid colored pieces because they are easier to style and wear with anything else in your wardrobe.
But do you know that a stripes can easily change the entire outfit without making it difficult to style. And instead of this being a sweater, you can use a full sleeve top that is perfect for in between weather, so you can layer on when needed. Or take of the layer and just wear the top when you are too warm.
These stripes are called Breton stripes, they are thicker stripes so add more interest to your outfit. I honestly prefer the thicker stripes compared to narrow ones, because the narrow stripe t shirts look busier. The Breton stripes just look more classy to me.
This fitted top from Ralph Lauren is also not that expensive, its just $55 and is available in Macys.
The Outfit Formula in Focus
I love a good put together look no matter whether its casual or fancy outfit. This just means that you look like you have your act together and if you achieve that with casual clothes, it just feels effortless too.
So, in this outfit formula that is what I am trying to achieve.
So the combination is:
Striped Full Sleeve Top + Black Straight Leg Jeans + Black Ankle Boots + Black Quilted Jacket + Crossbody Bag + Accessories

The Complete Outfit

Striped Full Sleeve Top (Ralph Lauren) | Black Straight Leg Jeans (Levis) | Black Ankle Boots (Sarah Flint) | Black Quilted Jacket (Ralph Lauren) | White Crossbody bag (Bottega Veneta) | Cat Eye Sunglasses (Tom Ford) | Chunky Pendant necklace (Nordstrom)
Striped Full Sleeve Top + Black Straight Leg Jeans
This is a classic outfit combination for all year round. You can simply change the material of the top to suit the weather. Trust me I wear it that way. I reviewed these ribcage straight leg jeans from Levis because I realized how good quality they are and I have been wearing them for more than a year now. The solid black color makes them structured and stylish. They almost look like pants and add sophistication to your outfit.
The beauty of black jeans is that you can wear any colored striped top with it, so if you have one which has navy stripes instead of black, you can still rock them with black jeans.
You can also wear fitted or a relaxed fit striped top with these jeans, that is why I am telling you these are style changers.
Striped Full Sleeve Top + Black Straight Leg Jeans + Black Quilted Jacket
We all love quilted jackets and coats for cooler weather, but when the weather is not that cold, you pick a light quilted jacket. This black quilted jacket from Ralph Lauren is a timeless piece, you can wear it year after year. I bought mine last year, but still rocking it this year. Isn’t that amazing.
This year, they have modified the stitching that changes the style a bit, but still a classy piece. The buttons add such a luxurious touch to the jacket. Its only $160 but looks so much more expensive.
You can wear it on the shoulders or wear it normally, but either way this outfit looks elevated.
Striped Full Sleeve Top + Black Straight Leg Jeans + Black Quilted Jacket + Black Ankle Boots
This was a given footwear of choice. Ankle boots are so easy to style with straight leg jeans. They don’t get caught up in the jeans or get in the way. That is why it is easier to wear ankle boots in this outfit.
The boots I chose are from Sarah Flint and I have been rocking them for years and they look brand new with just some cleanups. They are on the pricey side, but if you looking for boots that are comfortable and will last you, I recommend these. I have a $50 off code (SARAHFLINT-BASUCHI).
But if you are looking for a budget friendly option, Marc Fisher has some cool looking black ankle boots that I found in DSW.
Striped Full Sleeve Top + Black Straight Leg Jeans + Black Quilted Jacket + Black Ankle Boots + White Crossbody bag
I recommend picking white crossbody bag instead of black to give this outfit a change from boring darker tone fall outfit. The white handbag will add more brightness and freshness to the look. This will elevate your outfit. And you will also look luxurious.
I always find wearing white in cooler weather makes my outfits look way more expensive than wearing black.
These Bottega Veneta cassette bags are perfect minimal bags that have a quilted effect to match the entire outfit. But if you are looking for an budget friendly alternative, because lets face it they are expensive, then Coach Studio quilted crossbody bag is the perfect alternative. I love how minimalistic the bag is without taking away the style.
This is a great way to wear your summer handbags in fall and winter too.
Striped Full Sleeve Top + Black Straight Leg Jeans + Black Quilted Jacket + Black Ankle Boots + White Crossbody bag + Accessories
In terms of accessories, you know I love a good cat eye sunglasses, they look so luxe and specially in cold weather. I found these minimalistic ones from Tom Ford that I added to this outfit formula, but you can also pick your summer cat eye sunglasses and wear in fall.
And when it comes to jewelry, because of all the stripes, I did not want to add a lot of necklace, but at the same time a dainty one won’t even be visible. So, adding a chunky necklace is a better option. And it also adds a vintage touch to the outfit.
