Headed To Miami? Here Is What To Wear For All your Fun Events

Summer or actually any season as a matter of fact, Mexico beaches are the most visited destinations for most Americans I believe. And why not, awesome beaches, perfect weather all year round and amazing food and drinks. And the world class customer service.  The last one is a big reason I like to revisit any place.

If you are headed to Mexico and wondering what to wear in the trip because for some reason nothing in your closet is making sense, or you feel like you have nothing to wear. I totally get it! This happens to me every time. But lately, I have been really focused on planning and creating outfits that I can rewear different ways.

And I am hoping after this post, you will feel the same way. You will be confident looking chic and stylish enjoying your trip in Mexico beach resort.

Resort Wear For Poolside, Beach and Dining

The resort is where most of your daytime hours happen and it is the most relaxed dress code of the entire trip. Poolside, beach, lazy river, grabbing lunch between swims — this is the occasion where comfort and looking good need to exist in equal measure.

The resort styling challenge is not what to wear. It is how to transition the same pieces across multiple moments without going back to the room to change three times a day. The swimsuit you wore at the pool needs to work under a cover-up for a casual lunch. The cover-up needs to be easy enough to slip on and off but polished enough that you are not walking through a restaurant in just a beach towel.

The pieces that do this best are linen shirts worn open over a swimsuit, lightweight wrap skirts that tie and untie in seconds, and slip-on sandals that look intentional at a pool bar and a beachside restaurant simultaneously. Keep everything in a warm neutral palette — white, cream, sand, tan — and the whole resort wardrobe works together without any planning.

Here are the resort outfits that work from the first morning swim to the last sunset cocktail.

POOL OUTFIT #1

Black Bikini + White Swim Cover

A white swim coverup is perfect for all your pool side outfits. You can actually wear any color of bikini with this. I have worn this pool coverup literally every pool party of beach vacation

Such an easy look. Always add some gold jewelry to elevate the outfit.

POOL OUTFIT #2

Matching Bikini + Swim Cover Up

Monochrome outfits always look luxe. And if you are looking for an expensive looking pool outfit, this would be perfect for you.

You can also pick a single piece swimsuit. And you can mix and match these swim cover ups with other swimsuits for the rest of the trip.

DINNER OUTFIT #1

Resort Dress + Sandals

A chic lightweight mesh dress looks resort ready and chic. You just need a chic evening bag and  sandals for an effortless yet chic dinner outfit.

Resa is my favorite brand for all resort wear, sharing the most flattering dresses for women. And the price point is also not crazy.

DINNER OUTFIT #2

Printed Top + Black Skirt + Sandals

Linens are your best friend and a black linen skirt comes really handy for night time looks. Pair it with a printed white top to create a chic yet comfortable dinner outfit where you will look put together, but will be beach vacation ready.

You can wear this look both during the day time or at night.

Active Exploration For Ruins, Cenotes and Adventure

This is the occasion most Mexico outfit guides completely ignore and it is the one that causes the most packing regret. Visiting the Tulum ruins means walking on uneven stone surfaces in direct sun with no shade for most of the route. A cenote means climbing down a ladder into a cave pool, potentially jumping from a ledge, and emerging soaked with your hair wet for the rest of the afternoon. Xcaret or Xplor means a full day of swimming, hiking, and activities that will destroy anything you are not prepared to get dirty.

The styling challenge here is real. Emma does not want to look like she is heading to a yoga class but she also cannot wear her nicest resort dress to climb the Coba pyramid in 95 degree heat. The answer is not sacrificing style for practicality. It is finding the specific pieces that deliver both — and there are more of them than you think.

The formula for active exploration days is simple. A good quality one-piece swimsuit or bikini underneath everything so she is always ready to swim. A linen or cotton cover-up or shorts that dry quickly and look good when wet. A pair of shoes with grip that are still cute enough for photos at the ruins. A sun hat that stays on in the wind. A lightweight crossbody that holds everything without getting in the way.

Here are the outfits that work for every active day on the itinerary.

Exploration Outfit #1

Tank Top + Linen Pants + Slides

This is one of my favorite outfits from Mexico in my exploration trip in Tulum. I was super comfortable and was able to walk miles. The Burt orange color made the outfit pop against the ruins and created a chic photograph that was really memorable.

The tote bag helped hold on to umbrella and a small hand fan and more items that I needed for the trip.

Exploration Outfit #2

Vest Top + Linen Bermuda Shorts + Chunky Slides

When it’s really hot, shorts come in handy and this colorful outfit is perfect to take cute pictures in amazing places at Tulum. The yellow linen vest and shorts will keep you comfortable and looking stylish.

Since you will be walking a lot, wearing some chic chunky slides will help comfortably walk for hours exploring every place. And you can also head to downtown post exploration to enjoy some refreshing drinks.

Exploration Outfit #3

Linen shirt + Linen Pants + Chunky Slides

If you prefer to keep your hands covered so you don’t get sunburn or it’s not that hot outside, this exploration outfit would be perfect. It’s still casual with the chunky slides. But the linen pants and linen shirt pairing always looks classy and elevated.

You can wear a sunhat, or if your hair is unruly you can wear a bandanna using a silk scarf, so you don’t have to worry about your hair at all.

Evening Dining and Nightlife For Tulum After Dark

Evening in Tulum is a completely different experience from daytime Tulum. The jungle restaurants — Arca, Hartwood, Gitano — are among the most atmospheric dining experiences anywhere in the world. Outdoor, candlelit, surrounded by trees and cenotes, with a dress code that is somehow simultaneously relaxed and incredibly stylish. Getting this one right is worth the extra thought.

The evening styling challenge in Tulum specifically is that even the most formal dinner is still outdoors in warm humid air. Heavy fabrics, structured silhouettes, and anything that requires constant adjusting are wrong for this setting. What works is the opposite — flowing, breathable, effortless. A silk or satin slip dress. A linen co-ord in a rich colour. A simple cami with wide-leg trousers in a luxe fabric. Light enough to wear in the heat. Elevated enough to feel like an evening outfit.

The accessories are where the evening look gets interesting. Tulum dining rewards statement jewelry — layered gold chains, bold earrings, a beaded or woven bag. The natural outdoor setting and the candlelight make gold glow beautifully. This is the occasion to wear the pieces she saves for special moments.

Here are the evening outfits that work from a jungle restaurant dinner to dancing under the stars.

Night Outfit #1

Cut Out Dress + Slides + Clutch

A cute printed dress with some black slides and handbag would make for an excellent evening out look. This cut out dress looks sultry and perfect for enjoying night life in Mexico.

The outfit looks chic and because it is long, it also looks elegant and sophisticated. If you generally feel cold, just get a black cardigan with it. This is a great bar outfit you can wear on summer vacation.

Night Outfit #2

Lace Skirt + Lace Top + Sandals

This night out look is classy and sophisticated. I am obsessed with black lace trim skirt. They are perfect for any outfit. Pair this silk skirt with silk lace top and create a classy going out look for Mexico that is comfortable and looks really chic.

Pair it with contrasting sandals and an evening clutch to get ready to party or go for some fancy dining. You will be wearing this look on repeat.

Travel Days For Getting There and Getting Home

The travel day outfit is the most underrated packing decision of any trip. Emma will spend anywhere from six to twelve hours in transit — the flight, the transfer, the hotel arrival — and she will be photographed at the airport, at the gate, and the moment she steps out of the taxi at the resort. The travel day outfit matters more than most women give it credit for.

The travel day challenge is threefold. The airport is air-conditioned to an arctic temperature while Mexico is waiting on the other side at 90 degrees. The flight is long enough that comfort is non-negotiable. And she wants to look fresh and put together when she arrives rather than like she just survived a transatlantic flight.

The formula that solves all three is the same one that works for every long journey. Wide-leg linen or jersey trousers that are comfortable enough to sleep in and polished enough to look intentional on arrival. A fitted long-sleeve base layer for the arctic airport. A lightweight overshirt or jacket that comes on and off as the temperature changes. Slip-on shoes that clear security without drama. A crossbody that holds everything she needs without checking a bag at the gate.

Here are the travel day outfits that make the journey part of the experience rather than something to survive.

Airport Outfit #1

Linen Pants + Tee + Jacket + Sneaker Janes

You can wear linens to the airport as well. That way you are not packing all your clothes and you can re wear these outfits. This airport outfit is fun and super comfortable. And I love how the color of the sneaker janes match the tshirt.

This way your outfit looks cohesive and stylish. The linen pants are comfortable to wear at the airport. And adding a jacket will keep you warm when you are feeling chilly in the flight or at the airport.

Such a chic outfit that you can wear on repeat. Airport outfits don’t need to be boring.

Airport Outfit #2

Linen Pants + Tank Top + Line Shirt + Chunky Slides

You can wear this outfit in Mexico exploring the ruins but this outfit is also perfect for Airport. The chunky slides make it really comfortable to walk at the airport when you are running to your gates.

And this outfit will keep you comfortable as well. The Tank top and the Linen shirt layered will keep you comfortable and chic. And if you feel like you want to cover up more, just button up.
