6 Black Leather Jacket Outfits To Wear Now That Look Chic

Love a good black leather jacket, but your outfits turn out looking too edgy or probably the same every time you wear it, then you might find this post a bit useful. I have some chic outfit ideas that you can try with a black leather jacket that are refreshing and classic.

I resisted buying a black leather that for exactly that reason. I loved how it looked on everyone else, but I really didn’t like how edgy it looked on me when I wore. Though I love that look sometimes for sure. I also like to add versatility to any wardrobe piece that I buy.

What's Covered In the Post

I bought this faux black leather jacket from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale where it was on a good discount. This Jacket is still available and is just under $100.

I love a faux leather jacket over the real one because it is easier to maintain in general. You can wear it on humid days and not worry about damaging it.

I love collars in a leather jacket because that adds a bit more structure to the outfit. This is key if you want to make your leather jacket a bit more versatile.

Floral Prints

As We are approaching spring,  a leather jacket will be an easy transition to wear a leather jacket with something spring like a floral print dress or a floral print top.

I had also bought this dress during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but its perfect for spring time as well with its ombre color and floral print.

Added a pair of tall boots that matched the leather jacket color and this outfit is refreshing and also looks so effortless and still chic.

Since it does get a bit more chilly unexpectedly sometimes, keeping a chunky knit scarf can make you feel a bit more cozy and in a way hide the hardware details of the jacket that sometimes makes the outfit look edgy.

Tulle Skirt

Tulle skirts are my favorite style of skirts, and you can really make them so versatile if you get the right tulle skirt with any kind of tops. If you are interested to know more, I have a whole post dedicated to how you can wear a tulle skirt practically everyday.

But this tulle skirt is neutral with polka dots which makes it really versatile and I have worn it in so many ways. But I love how this leather jacket outfit turned out with ankle boots.

To make it look a bit more classic, I added a chunky necklace that matches the color of the hardware of the jacket. But you can also wear gold jewelries.

I chose a chunky necklace because it adds more of vintage and classic touch compared to lightweight necklace that can camouflage with all the hardware details of the jacket.

Cat Eye Sunglasses always make my outfits look chic. There is something about the shape that adds a subtle feminine detail and I just can’t stop wearing them.

All White

A monochromatic look like an all white look with the black leather jacket will look really chic and more importantly make your leather jacket stand out and look way more expensive than it is.

In this look I am wearing white turtleneck sweater with white straight leg pants.

I typically don’t like monochromatic looks with black and white, so added more colors with a gold necklace and colored sunglasses which are an easy way to add color and vibrancy to any monochromatic outfit that you are creating with black or white.

Since I am wearing wide leg pants, I added a pointy toe ankle boots that will enhance your legs and make you look taller.

Sweater Dresses

This time of the year, most of us wear sweater dresses and now that I have been working from home for quite sometime, I fallback to them because they are cozy and comfy and I can get away with wearing no pants. Haha

I chose these camel color sweater dress with the leather jacket because it felt more tone down and classic with something edgy.

Adding a touch of contrast and richness with a pattern scarf can be a fun way to jazz of any outfit. But its working perfectly here as I have similar tones in the dress and the details of the scarf is balancing the jacket.

Since the dress is over the knee, I chose to add tall boots, but if you have a midi dress, swapping them with ankle boots would be fun too.

Pattern & Color

Adding a touch of color to your back leather jacket outfit is an easy way to straighten away from looking edgy.

Typically, edgy leather outfits tend to be all black, so adding colors would be the opposite of that.

I also added a striped top to this look to balance out the all black color of the leather jacket and to add some more sophistication to the whole look.

This outfit was looking like a rider outfit with the tall boots and felt so fun to wear.

And rather than the obvious aviator sunglasses, I chose oversized square ones that looked so chic and added a retro touch to the overall outfit, don’t you think?

Bohemian

This is my most favorite outfit because its such a non obvious way of wearing a black leather jacket.

A tiered skirt brings in a bohemian touch to this look without much of effort.

Since the pattern and style of the tiered skirt was the statement of this look, I wanted to keep everything else to the minimum. So, I went with a neutral top, and black accessories.

But, I think my colored hexagonal sunglasses sprinkled some more color to this overall outfit.

Tiered skirt can be an easy and more flattering alternative to a midi skirt because it not only makes you look curvier it also adds length.
