Worried about nothing to wear every morning, these 7 spring outfit formulas will help you build outfits worry free.
Getting ready on weekday mornings brings serious dread in all of us. Myself included! Even if you have all the best possible clothes in the world you can still feel like you have nothing to wear. That is absolutely normal for all of us. But how do we solve it?
It’s important to have some go to outfit formulas that you can wear on repeat by simply swapping pieces in the look. That’s what makes getting dressed easy and effortlessly. That’s the goal of my blog.
In this post, I am sharing 7 spring outfit formulas you can create with clothes you have. I am using basics that most women own in their closet. No trends here.
If you don’t have something in exact, just swap it with something similar.
Slim Jeans + Oversized Shirt + Flat Shoes
One of the easiest and most effortless look is pairing a structured yet comfortable top with a casual bottom. In this outfit formula I have paired an oversized button down shirt with not a skinny jeans but slim jeans.
If you still love wearing skinny jeans, then you can absolutely bring them out and pair them in this look. But the slim jeans gives you the illusion of skinny jeans without it being one. There are more skinny jeans alternatives if you are looking for one.
The oversized button down shirt is so comfortable on the days I am not feeling like I need to put a lot of efforts, but the button details add a structured look. You can literally wear this look to office if you are trying to look senior or mature in your role.
I paired these with matching loafers which are comfortable to wear and elevate the look with the hardware details.
If you don’t own one, go for ballet flats, but pick an elevated pair instead of going for sneakers. I added a cardigan over my shoulder to add more detail to the outfit, so it does not look like I rolled out of the bed.
You can repeat this outfit formula by swapping any of the pieces and still feel like you are wearing a whole new look.
Jeans + Crewneck Tee + Sneakers + Jacket
You have literally every single thing in this outfit formula that you can rock together in spring. But let’s break this look down a bit. Pair a relaxed fit jeans, straight leg jeans or wide leg jeans with the crew neck tee. This is not only comfortable, it also looks good. Whether you are running errands or heading to work, this is a basic outfit combination that always works.
You most likely want to wear sneakers, go for minimal style of sneakers like white leather sneakers or patterned sneakers. These look more elevated for work instead of your running shoes. Trust me, I have been in corporate for over 20 years. So, I need a thing or two when you get side eyed by your co-worker for wearing things to work that you are not suppose to wear.
For your outer layer, instead of going for leather jacket, pick a collared straight jacket or a trench jacket. I am sure you have a black one in your closet.
This outfit formula is basic but so easy to put together. In this look I am adding a striped crewneck tee to show you how you can change it up and look stylish.

Cropped Pants + Camisole + Oversized Cardigan + Flats
This outfit formula is the most effortless look from all the ones I am sharing this post. You must have ankle pants, they are an elevated wardrobe essential for women. These are versatile and comfortable to wear all year round. And you must also have oversized V neck Cardigan.
We all have one in our closet. I paired the pants with Camisole to create an elegant chic look. But if you are running late, you can just wear a V neck tee or a Crewneck tee. Add your favorite flats and you have a chic outfit ready for anywhere you are heading out.
If you are going to work, this outfit formula makes you look polished in like no minutes.
And you can repeat this combo in so many colors. You can also swap pants with cropped jeans. There are endless outfits possible using this formula.
Mary Janes are such an awesome alternative to basic ballet flats and when you are showing some ankle these elevate your looks.
Skirt + Cardigan + Flats
This spring outfit formula is a no-brainer for all of us. We are all craving for some fun clothing items and you would have brought out your favorite spring skirt. I have so many that I want to wear. Simply pair it with a cardigan and flats. Your chic spring outfit is ready.
You can pair colors together and really have fun with this outfit formula. The only style rule I will emphasize, make sure there is something in the color scheme that matches or compliments.
This outfit is so easy to put together. And if you hate just wearing the cardigan as a top, just add fitted tee and you are good to go. If you are in office, or wherever you are, you will look chic and be comfortable in this outfit.
Wide Leg Pants + Crewneck Tee + Pull over + Loafers
If it’s still chilly in the mornings to get rid of sweaters, then this outfit formula is so easy to put together and I know you will thank me later. Simply pair your wide leg pants with crewneck tee. And add a relaxed sweater as a third layer.
If the sweater is relaxed it’s perfect to just wear above the outfit without tucking in. This creates an effortless look. Moreover now you don’t need any jackets with your outfit. If its too cold swap the short sleeve tee with full sleeve.
And add loafers or other structured shoes to dress up the outfit. These ones are my favorite ones and completely look Gucci inspired.
This spring outfit formula is the perfect balance of casual and elevated. If you want you can also wear black heels like pumps with it to dress it up further.
And you can recreate this look in any combination.
Jeans + Striped Tee + Wool Coat + Heels
This outfit formula is my go to work outfit formula with jeans. Long coats in general elevate your outfit. And you must own one even if it’s not this exact color.
A striped tee and blue jeans is an elevated basic outfit that you can just throw on with confidence. It always looks great. Add in your favorite long coat. It can be a wool one if it’s still chilly outside. Or it can be a trench coat if it’s not that cold. The coat makes your outfit polished.
I have added block slingback pumps, but that’s optional for you if you hate heels. But adding heels dresses up a basic look. And that is why it’s an essential in every woman’s wardrobe.
Jeans + Striped Tee + Wool Coat + Heels
I kept this outfit formula to the last because it should be a no-brainer by now. If you cannot figure out anything in the morning, then just go for this really straightforward look.
Throw in your tee and jeans with sneakers and add an oversized blazer. I would say you should own a patterned blazer for exactly these moments when wearing a black blazer will make your outfit look basic.
I am obsessed with striped blazers for spring and summer. They don’t look like fall and winter clothing items like other patterns do, but the stripe details adds more details to your basic outfit.
I will wear this outfit on repeat by swapping the jeans and tee colors. This is such and easy spring to summer outfit formula for when you feel like you have nothing to wear.
