You have been eying these pretty espadrilles for spring or summer but want to know whether they are worth buying and styling. Or you are wondering how you can style them with your everyday looks then this post is for you. I am also sharing some of my favorite pieces that are timeless and also on great budget.
For me Espadrilles became a staple after I travelled to Spain, which is where they are originally from. And it totally makes sense because Espadrilles are mostly naturally made with Canvas and jute rope material.
But just like with everything in Fashion, different brands have come up with different styles and also different materials other than canvas and jute.

I also wanted to answer some common questions we all have regarding espadrilles since I already own a couple of them and have been wearing them for years now.
Are Espadrilles Comfortable?
The soles of espadrilles are also made out of the canvas and hence are really comfortable specially for hotter weather where wearing close toe shoes can be a sweaty affair.
Espadrilles come in many shapes and styles, but the most well known style is the espadrille wedges. I have always found wedges to be easier and more comfortable that the regular heels since the heel height is distributed across the entire sole.
If you don’t at all prefer heels, Espadrilles also come in flat styles. There are two popular flat styles, one completely closed loafer styles (or you can call them ballet flat style). The other one is front toes closed with straps which are my favorite style.
They are not only comfortable, but they look chic as well. The soles of espadrilles are cushioned because of the design and hence are perfect for walking. I have walked in my wedge style espadrilles quite a lot and have never had any problems.
Because of the canvas straps you can decide the tightness of tying and that makes it easier and flexible for everyone to wear.
How Do You Style Espadrilles?
Because of the chic summery nature of the footwear, we often prefer espadrilles to be worn on just vacations but they don’t have to be that way at all. Though espadrilles are perfect for summer or more like warmer weather, you can also wear it for fall specially in places where it is not extremely cold yet.
I will share my favorites styles below and different ways you can style them.
I find the slip in espadrilles perfect for everyday running errands that are cozy and also look chic.
Flat Full Espadrilles
They come in so many styles and color options, but if you are looking for an everyday pair that you can just slip into and head over for any errands or be out and about, choosing a darker color might be a good option. This way you don’t have to stress on what you want to wear with it.
These styles of Espadrilles look great with any kind of casual style. But I have created some outfit ideas for you with a dark blue pair that I found super adorable from Kate Spade. And they also have appliqué details which adds a feminine touch to the casual pair.
Flat With Straps In Back
These are another great pair for everyday styles. The strap detail makes it look so chic and cute, but because this is more of a flat style, it can be worn in casual way as well.
I also think this style of espadrilles is also great for a tone down version of the wedge style espadrille and makes for an awesome work footwear as well specially if you have a business casual work attire.
Because of the close toe it still does not feel like a sandal, but with the straps it also does and hence a pair like these ones would be really versatile in your wardrobe.
Because of the straps, I really like them in a lighter color tone and most likely in white because, they look good in jeans as well.
You can even pair them with shorts to create an effortless chic summer look. Add in a pair of button down shirt and they look so chic and stylish compared to wearing flip flops.
I also love wearing feminine blouses with shorts that looks a bit more fun than the usual T shirts, and adding the flat espadrilles to this combination is a great way of looking chic and cute in shorts.

Wedge Style Espadrilles
These are the most popular styles of espadrilles, and I own multiple pairs of them. Because of the wedge style or the heels itself they look chic and hence are perfect for special occasion wear.
But they are not just limited to that. I have worn them with shorts, jeans, on beach vacations as well. Because they are more breathable people often feel think that they are only suited for vacation, but if you choose the right color, they will look great with any style of clothing.
If you want to buy your first pair, I always recommend to go with a white pair because they look really chic and stylish and can elevate any outfit you want to wear.
My favorite brand is Castaner who have the best wedge style espadrilles. I already own two pairs and also plan to buy more this spring and summer.
Can You Wear Espadrilles at Night?
We often associate espadrilles to daytime looks because they look so summery and casual. But it does not have to be that way.
A black wedge style espadrille will be perfect for Night time look. And they don’t have to be canvas ones. There are so many brands who have come up with the faux leather and leather styles of espadrilles that would look way more sophisticated and stylish for any event.

Perfect for Travel
There are so many reasons that espadrilles are great for travel and specially packing for travel. Since they are lightweight, they don’t take up all the weight and you can add more shoes :).
Because of how comfortable they are, you can wear them and walk for miles which also makes them a perfect pair for travel where you want to look cute in an outfit but also want your shoes to be comfortable so that you can walk in them.
I always make sure that I am carrying atleast 1 pair of espadrilles on any of my vacation, just in case I need to head to a place where you need to look fancier.
Perfect for Wedding Events
Because of the romantic style of the footwear, Espadrilles are also perfect for wedding events. If you own a pair of white espadrilles they would look amazing with maxi dresses, baby doll dresses, and other styles of more ethereal outfits that look amazing in a wedding event.
Because of the strap details wedge style espadrilles look really fancy and make a beautiful pairing with softer style of dresses. Best Flat Espadrilles
These are the most worn style and widely available as well. And you will find a lot of awesome options for them, but I want to share the best that are available.
Toms is one of the most known brands for these styles. They are also really budget friendly and that is why they are really widely worn. Though I am not a fan of a lot of styles they have, I have picked classic colors and styles that would be a great investment for you.
If you are looking for some fun and colorful option then I would definitely recommend Soludos. They are a bit more modernize version compared to Toms, and have a lot of cute styles in the flat espadrilles.
These are also often worn for vacation, but if you pick a classic color, you can literally wear them everyday. They are also not that expensive, so if you have some extra dollars you can spare, I recommend going with some of the pieces linked below.
Best Strap & Wedge Espadrilles
Castañer is my favorite brand for strap style espadrilles. And they are the Spanish brand which is where espadrilles were created originally. So, it is natural that they will specialize in making the best pairs for us.
And indeed they do. The brand has many different variations and styles of espadrilles that I sometimes find really hard to pick a favorite.
