I usually itch to peel off my gel nail polish the moment it feels like its ready to come off, and while that is an easy way out, its really bad for nails. So, In this post I am sharing a really easy way of removing your gel nails without peeling them off or soaking them for hours in acetone.
The moment I discovered this process, applying gel polish became really easier for me. I love the longevity of gel nails, but I hate the removal process where you have to soak them in acetone and literally wait for 15 – 20 minutes fo it to come off.
This process will take you just a few minutes and you don’t even have to keep your fingers away which can stop you from typing or using your phone or doing other basic activities.
What You Will Need
You don’t need an army like you would if you had to soak your nails to remove them. These items can be repurposed as well.
- Cuticle Pusher – It does not have to be metal but one will help you with a lot of other nail care.
- Nail File – This is a must have for this process and without which it can take a lot longer.
- Cuticle Oil – This will be used after you have removed your ge nail polish to add some some moisture to your nails. They do take a toll when you apply the gel nails.
- Gel Polish Remover – This product is the best thing and it actually works. I have been using these gel polish remover for a few months now. And it definitely makes my life easier. I can remove my polish even while at work tying away. You will believe me once you will read on.
How To Remove Gel Polish Correctly
Step 1: File Your Nail
This is actually important step, please don’t skip it. The gel top coat is like protective coating that helps keep the polish stay on your nails longer. If you don’t file it, the remover would not work.
You don’t have to file the whole thing, you just have to file a little bit of the top part around the nails. This will add roughness to the texture of the gel polish.
Step 2: Apply the Remover
Apply the gel polish remover. I would shake the bottle just like regular polish and apply it like regular nail polish. Now, the more layers of nail polish you have on, you might have to apply almost similar layers of the gel remover.
It would appear clear on top of the nail polish and your nails might feel a bit tingly, but nothing too painful or anything. If you do have severe allergies of something, I would always do a patch test before applying it completely.
You will probably see the bubbling instantly after you apply, but the whole polish bubbling will take a few more minutes.
Step 3: Reapply As Needed
When you see your first layer kind of drying, I would recommend applying the second or third coat. This will speed up the process and efficiently remove the polish.
For me it takes about 5-7 minutes again depending on the layers I have applied on my nails. It does look a bit gross, but let it do its thing. The remover paste penetrates your nail polish and lifts it.
This is why you see the bubbling of the polish. It is normal.
Step 4: Reapply As Needed
Once you feel like most of the polish looks like its ready to come off. Use the cuticle pusher and slowly and gently scrape your nails. You will be absolutely surprised, how easily it comes off.
This is why I love this product so much. I don’t have to scrub my nails or put any pressure. There might be a fe fragments attached, but they can be easily removed with the cuticle pusher.
Step 5: Apply Cuticle Oil
Wash your hands with soap and you can just use you nails to clean any tiny fragments. Use any cuticle oil you have or you can get the one I am using which feels really amazing from Amazon.
Apply it not just around your cuticle, but all over your nails. Leave it for a minute and you can rub it or wipe it off. And that is it. Your gel nail polish removing is done.
