Thinking of buying a YSL belt, I recently did and here is my honest review of this belt including what other sizes belts from the brand you could buy. And also sharing the best places to buy the belt from.
About the Brand
Saint Laurent or YSL is a minimalist designer brand founded in 1962 in Paris, France.
It’s one of the most known luxury brands that features everything ready to wear and beauty products as well.
But the focus has always been edgy minimal style portraying mostly neutral and blacks mirroring its founder “Yves Saint Laurent”.
I don’t own many products from the brand except a Work Tote bag and now this belt. But there puffer bags as I call them have been the most popular styles that you will see women rocking everywhere.
The price point of the brand is around the same as Burberry which is on the mid range of designer brands.
Product Review
Price, Size and Color
I bought the YSL Laque Monogram Leather belt in the size 85. The color is white but it’s called Crema Soft, must be French.
I already owned a black belt to wear with jeans or pants and needed a white one. I always saw women rocking these belts and they honestly look really sleek with the logo as buckle. So, I decided to pick them in white as I didn’t own any white belt in that thickness.
This was purely a purchase for using and not to just add a designer belt to my collection.
And a statement belt always enhances even your basic outfits.

Material and Durability
Honestly, there is a reason women are obsessed with this belt. The calfskin leather is so soft to touch that you can’t stop touching it. I am being honest, but the leather isn’t flimsy. It wraps pretty softly, but you won’t see any creases after buckling.
Its also lightweight with minimal hardware, so your buckle will not sag the belt which is a common problem I have seen with belts that have heavy hardwares.
I have been using this belt for about 3 to 4 months with blue and black jeans, and have not seen and discoloration of the leather.
But if you are a bit concerned you can always put leather stain protectant spray the first time you take out.
Fit
The 1 inch belt is a really versatile thickness. This belts works on jeans as well as on skirts. This is exactly the reason I bought it.
The thickness is just enough to flattering my denim outfits. But I can also easily wear it with dresses. The 85 size works well with the logo buckle, I dont need any other buckles.

YSL Belt Styling
I have mostly worn it with pants and jeans, but I recently went on a weekend trip to Napa where I needed to wear a black cardigan dress for an evening out look.
I usually style dresses with a thicker outfit, but I was pleasantly surprised that the belt looked perfect with the dress. In fact I got some compliments on my outfit.

Overall Thoughts
I definitely made the right choice in buying this belt. It’s really soft and versatile. It adds the right amount of waist thickness for me when I wear anything high waisted.
I also love the minimal hardware which was the biggest reason I bought this belt. This helps me in wearing the belt to work or events where I don’t want my outfit to scream designer.
Since the buckle and the loop is made well that it won’t scratch the leather, I see this leather belt lasting me for a long time.
